I'm Betting on Me

So you are graduating college or you are relatively young when it comes to being a business professional...That's okay, everyone has to start somewhere regardless of where your career takes you.

You may be faced with the difficult decision of "what do I do next" or "where do I go from here." The author of this article experienced those same thoughts and she has some advice for people who are also in that situation.

Sometimes we get so lost in what is expected of us after we graduate college that we forget that this is the time to take a bet on ourselves and see how far we can go. We end up taking the position that looks so great on paper, but we end up sitting in a cubicle next to a 'Negative Nancy', who ends up getting promoted to the position you wanted, solely because she was there six months longer than you. We end up hating it, but yet we stick with it, because it isn't a risk. It's what we know...Why not change that?

The author encourages people in that position to not worry about risks; she explains that those risks should be taken while you have very little to lose and don't have much holding you back from giving it your best effort. You may fall in love with your decision after you give it a real chance, rather than not trying it at all and losing out on an opportunity to grow your career AND be happy.
