A Little Productivity Can Go A Long Way
How to Become a Highly Productive Person
Following these 11 habits to be achievable and realistic actions you can use every
day to better yourself. Before you know it, forming these habits will mold you into
becoming a highly productive person!
1) Daily Dedicated Planning Time.
Researchers have found setting aside 5-10 minutes in the morning or at night can
help get you organized when it comes to accomplishing future tasks.
2) Taking care of quick tasks immediately.
Eliminate the need to write down or remember your ideas later by tackling those
small tasks right away.
3) Prioritizing your to-do list.
Rearrange the absolute essentials to realistically and effectively complete your to-do
lists.
4) Identifying and utilizing your productivity window.
For most people, a 2-3 hour window that occurs once or twice a day will be their
most productive periods of time to complete their work.
5) Knowing when and when not to multitask.
Knowing the difference between multitasking and being distracted can be difficult
for people since it requires them to step back from what they are doing and to
evaluate the effectiveness of their work.
6) Using a planning/scheduling tool that works for your lifestyle.
You can use apps on your phone, or even a simple wall calendar, use whatever is
most ingrained in your daily lifestyle so that it is comfortable enough to be second
nature. Cozi- is an app I found that works for the average tech savvy family!
7) Be realistic about how much time tasks can take.
Taking into account occasional breaks and inevitable interruptions allows highly
productive people to enjoy the sweet spot where they can accurately estimate how
much time something will require.
8) Have someone hold you accountable.
Highly productive people don’t want to disappoint others when they follow up with
their progress. This helps motivate highly productive people to accomplish more.
9) Being a perfectionist (but only when it counts).
Wrote a cover letter for a job application? Be a perfectionist and email it to your
someone who can revise it and catch those missed typos.
10) Delegate the right way.
Delegating a reasonable number of tasks that are appropriately fit for others will not
only produce better results, but it will allow you to focus more on the tasks that you
are more suited for as well.
11) Appreciate what you finished rather than stressing over what you didn’t.
Looking at the bright side and choosing to see the accomplishments rather than the
missteps means you’ll feel better, sleep better, and be more productive again
tomorrow. This will not only lead to better progress in the long run, but it will
encourage others to be more positive and productive too.
So give up your guilt over imperfections, and choose one or two habits to develop
every week. As soon as you know it those habits will change into characteristics and
you will become a highly productive person.
